An Untitleable Pain

The glimmer of crystals hangs in the air;

The shock of betrayal starts to blare,

But why can't I do anything but stare?

The air

becomes quiet and yet full of despair.

The betrayal of you, my friends, gnaws:

How much longer till it ends?

Uncountable tears,

as much as the falling rain,

for all my “dears” in my letters.

Why does my heart tear?

The rain stops as if it cares;

the drops disperse into the air;

the sudden hope runs through my veins;

Is there still anything to hope for near?

At twelve, Rina is learning how poetry can turn difficult feelings into words. In “An Untitleable Pain,” she writes about betrayal through tears, rain, and the small return of hope, ending with a question rather than an easy answer. A heartfelt poem from a young writer who continues to grow with every piece she writes.
